How a digital loyalty card works
A digital loyalty card lives in the phone wallet and updates itself. Let’s walk through what happens, from the first purchase to the reward.
1. The customer adds the card to their wallet
They scan a QR code or open a link and add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. No app, no long sign-up: it takes a few seconds.
2. On each purchase they scan your QR
At the till you display your QR code. The customer scans it: that awards a stamp for each order, or points based on the amount spent.
3. The card updates itself
The stamp or points balance updates on the customer’s phone in real time. Nothing to do by hand: the card in the wallet always shows the correct total.
4. The customer redeems the reward
Once the threshold is reached, the customer is entitled to the reward. With stamp cards the card resets automatically and the next round begins.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between stamps and points?
Stamps count orders (e.g. 10 coffees = 1 free) and reset at the reward. Points accrue based on euros spent and suit variable receipts.
How do you stop someone collecting points without buying?
Every scan uses a single-use code generated on the spot: it is valid once. So points cannot be duplicated or generated remotely.
Does it work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. The card is added to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Google Wallet on Android, with the same flow for the customer.
